Summary: Otoya has learned to pretend not to be looking, but when a man like J reappears, it's hard to pretend.
A/N: [livejournal.com profile] shinigami39, I know it's been over a month since you requested... I AM SLOW. This is also kind of lame. XD

Otoya has learned the trick of it. The trick is, pretend you are looking at one thing, while you're actually looking at another. It's a useful skill to learn, for boring classes, for hostage situations, for the occasional extremely awkward group date… The thing is, Fujimaru has not managed to learn how to pull it off. Fujimaru still wears his heart on his sleeve, and his emotions on his face. So when Fujimaru finally notices the person that Otoya noticed half an hour ago and tugs at Otoya's sleeve, Otoya knows there is no longer any hope of unnoticed surveillance. Not that he was unnoticed, Otoya is sure that J was sitting in that spot specifically so he could watch them, and he probably knew the minute that Otoya started watching him (watch them watching him watching them watching…)

"Otoya!" Fujimaru hissed and tugged at Otoya's sleeve. Otoya closed the book he was looking through (yet another book on how to study for college entrance exams, which Otoya was looking at in the hope that Fujimaru would, maybe, learn something from it) and glanced at Fujimaru. Fujimaru had grown, since the time of Anko's death, and matured. But he was still Fujimaru. "Is that…"

Half an hour ago, Otoya would have said 'no', or 'I think it's a look alike'. But it's been a half an hour, and the young man nursing a melon soda has certain physical attributes that Otoya finds it hard to ignore. His hair might be dark now, but it falls in the same way. He's taller too, maybe almost as tall as Otoya, but his body lacks the bulky masculinity Otoya has. And the pair of stylish glasses decorating the bridge of his nose are obviously fake.

"I think so." Otoya puts the study book down on the pile in front of him. There is a crowd of other book shoppers between Otoya and Fujimaru and the café where 'man who might be J' sits. "Do you want to go ask?"

Fujimaru's face is dark .It's half between 'midnight phone calls promising death to my family' dark and 'you put yourself in needless danger' dark. It's hard to tell if Fujimaru is upset that J is showing his face to him, or if Fujimaru is upset that J is showing his face to others. Third Eye did not manage to clear out the cult entirely, and their home base was Tokyo. J ran away from the cult, so if someone else made the connection, J's life could be in danger. Otoya isn't sure if Fujimaru has considered that though. Perhaps the anger is because J is in danger of getting arrested.

"I think we should." Fujimaru starts moving, casually making his way through the crowd. Otoya follows behind. Otoya might be the more athletic and graceful one, but crowds are difficult. Girls and boys purposefully bump into Otoya in a manner in which they do not bump into Fujimaru. Otoya falls behind.

The man who might be J stands up, and leaves money on the table with the empty glass. He begins to walk towards the entrance to the café.

Fujimaru pushes through the glass doors to exit the bookstore and, pun intended, books it, heading for the doors of the café. The street between isn't busy, and he runs across despite it being a red light. Otoya barely makes it out the doors of the bookstore before Fujimaru disappears inside the café.

The café is busy inside, and despite the glass windows and glass doors Otoya cannot properly make out J or Fujimaru. The more things go on, the more convinced Otoya is that it is J inside. He jogs across the street and fishes his phone out of his pocket before pushing open the doors to the café. Fujimaru is speed dial one (speed dial two is emergency services, and three is third eye), and Otoya hits it while he scans the café crowd. There is a short line of people waiting for others, and another group of people standing around sipping drinks. The tables are filled with couples and groups, and the table J had sat at seconds ago is being cleaned for someone else while Otoya looks.

Otoya listens to Fujimaru's phone ring three times before it goes to voicemail, and he does not hear the distinctive ringtone that Fujimaru has given him echo in the café.

Otoya snags a pretty waitress. "Excuse me." Otoya is sure he appears unnecessarily worried. "My friend came in a moment ago. A man about this tall, wearing a shirt that said 'Save the earth'? He was probably looking for a-"

"The man in glasses!" The girl giggles then flutters her eyelashes, and looks up at Otoya through them. She reminds Otoya faintly of Haruka. "They went upstairs. There's private seating there, are you with them?"

"Yes." Otoya says, and the girl smiles secretively before leading him through the lunch crowd and over to a staircase Otoya had not noticed before. She leads him up the stairs, and the noise of the café deadens when they enter the second floor. Sound proofing, it must be. The waitress leads Otoya towards a door (door 11) and opens it, motioning for him to step through.

Fujimaru and J sit at a table, J with his legs folded crosswise underneath the low table, and Fujimaru sprawled on a pillow next to him. Fujimaru looks disheveled, and a little surprised. His lips are slightly reddened, and slightly puff, and his collar is wrinkled. Otoya can guess what happened before he got there.

"Big brother." J shifts slightly, and Otoya takes a step into the room, the door closes behind him, and the slightly muffled noise of the café turns into death silence. All Otoya can hear are the sounds of his own heart beat, and J and Fujimaru's breathing. "Falcon said you would be right along."

"And so I am, J." Otoya knows now that J's full name is 'Kanzaki Jun', but he cannot bring himself to call J that. Or to call him 'little brother' or 'brother' at all. "What do you want?"

Fujimaru's mouth is moving, up and down, like a fish. Otoya has a feeling that Fujimaru is going to be utterly useless for the duration of this conversation. Or at least until the powerful effects of J's kiss wear off. J leans back on his hands, slightly closer to sprawling now.

"Can't I come back to Tokyo to visit?" J asks, then pushes himself up off the floor and walks towards Otoya. "I missed you, brother dear." Otoya does not bother pushing J's hand off when J grabs his collar, and he expects to be pulled slightly down so he is closer to the other man's height. He does not expect the kiss that follows. It's a deep kiss, almost soul searing, and it's hungry. Otoya makes a muffled noise of surprise and plants his hands on J's shoulders, then pushes him back. J laughs, breathless, and reseats himself next to Fujimaru, who looks torn between being jealous and being extremely turned on. Otoya presses fingers to his lips, a bit surprised when they come back tinged with blood. J must have bit him.

J leans back on the pillows, one hand grabbing Fujimaru's shirt and pulling him close, the other motioning for Otoya to step forward. "Let's reminisce."
