Ryou shrugged out of his coat and hung it up inside his locker.
“So they really have him?” Closing his locker Ryou locked it before turning to glance Davide’s way.

Davide nodded, leaning against the opposite wall of lockers. Rokkaku’s resident jokester had been strangely quiet since Ojii’s death. Everyone had been a grateful for it the first day, but now people were starting to get worried. Ryou sighed and patted Davide on the arm as he made his way out of the room.

“So, who’s working him over?”

“Aoi’s in the room with Shudou and Saeki.” Bane stated, blocking the doorway. “You guys seen Itsuki?”

“Ittchan was working late, you guys messaged him?” Ryou questioned, pushing Bane out of the doorway and walking towards the interrogation room. “I’m sure he’ll be here soon.”

Bane waited for Davide to slip out of the locker room, then they both caught up with Ryou. Two quick pairs of footsteps catching up with Ryou’s before slowing down. They walked with Ryou in the middle, an inverted triangle of height. “How sure are you guys that this is him?”

Bane slung an arm around Ryou’s shoulders. “We waited until we got confirmation on him being at the scene. He’s definitely involved.” Davide made a soft noise of agreement.

Ryou reached for the door to the observation room, unsurprised when Davide reached around him and opened it. “Thanks, Davide.”

“Mmm.” Bane shot a worried glance over Ryou’s head at Davide.

Ryou brushed his hair out of his face, nodding at the Hyotei inspector lurking in the corner. “How is it going?” Ryou asked Shudou. Shudou’s blond hair was mussed, and he looked like dough stretched too thin.

“He’s got some serious mental walls.” Shudou motioned at Saeki and Aoi’s serious faces. “I had to leave.”

Shudou’s mental walls were some of the best on Rokakku, but he was weak when it came to reading others mind’s. “So he’s just taking it?” Bane asked, leaning close to the one way mirror. The redhead sitting across from Saeki and Aoi did not look dangerous. “Not attacking at all?”

“That’s pretty confident.” Ryou murmured. “He knows we could break his mind into pieces and fry them right?”

The Hyotei representative spoke up now, his voice drifting out of the shadows like smoke. “Sakaki says no ‘frying’. The man is to stand trial and that means minimal tampering.” A voice as smooth as silk, the type that could caress you and when the time came wrap around your neck and tie tight. “Rokkaku is the best there is, or so I’ve heard.”

Davide, Bane, and Ryou stood stiff as scarecrows, spines as straight as rules. “We are.”

Still, slipping under strong mental walls took a delicate touch. Aoi, who always seemed to shout his thoughts, had a lot of strength and technique but no delicacy. Saeki might be able to do it, but it would take a while.

“So… should we send someone for Ittchan?” Bane questioned, silence hanging heavy in the room.

Ryou and Davide exchanged a look. “I’m sure he’ll show up.” Ryou said. “And if not, we can handle it.”

Inside the interrogation room Kai leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms over his chest. Saeki leaned closer and propped his elbows on the table. “Who’s Eishirou?” Saeki questioned, picking up a strong thought.

The redhead rolled his eyes, glancing towards the mirror. “I’m sure you’ll find out. Can I get a glass of water or something?”

Saeki followed Kai’s line of sight before glancing back at Aoi. It was the most the redhead had spoken since they had brought him in, it might be a break. “Aoi?”

“Sounds good to me, Sae-san.” Aoi might have been speaking normally, but the words seemed to be shouted from a megaphone. Kai twitched in irritation. Aoi hopped up. “I’ll do it!” Saeki watched Aoi step out of the room.

The redhead snorted. “Lame. You’re okay dude, but those other two? Totally weak sauce.”

Saeki raised an eyebrow, feeling irritated by the smug resonance coming from Kai. Purple, hard, cold, purple, Goya Saeki managed to keep pokerfaced. “I like them well enough. We’ve been a unit for ages.”

“We know all about the Rokkaku mind readers.” Kai smirked superiorly. “You guys say you’re all that but you’re nowhere near Seigaku’s power.”

“We have our good points.” Ryou said, slipping into the room with Kai’s glass of water. Ryou set Kai’s water glass down in front of him before slipping into Aoi’s recently abandoned seat. “What about your group? You all have your good points too?”

Kai’s smirk stretched wider. “Don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Stifling, inescapable heat, and cold, irresistible eyes.

“Kusu kusu. I’m sure.
