I cut up a jalapeno earlier today for our white bean chicken chili. After I cut stuff up, I was very careful, I thought I was alright but an hour or so later my finger on my right hand started tingling/burning as did the area right by my right eye.
So I went and washed my hands several times and eventually used a bb wipe on the area by my eye.
The burning went away without too much trouble.
But later, while doing the dishes, I cleaned the scraps of jalapeno out of the sink. This meant that later my FINGERS started REALLY burning. Like, really.
It's an interesting sensation. A part of me thinks that my fingers should feel hot or that using them should HURT because it FEELS like a normal first degree OOPS THAT PAN WAS TOO HOT burn.
But they're not warm, and the tingling is actually just... interesting.
Not painful anymore, but that might be because not only did I wash several times but I doused with milk, then later used rubbing alcohol followed by a milk soaked cloth and later than that I washed and used olive oil... and even later I put aloe on.
My thumb and finger pads on my left hand still tingle though.
