Title: Tribes of Blight
Author: Kitti-Chan
Pairing: Willow/Spike/Xander, Buffy/Angel, Faith/Oz, hints of Graham/Xander, and vague mentions of Cordelia/Gage
Spoilers: AU
Summary: A plague wipes out everyone over the age of 18, the Scooby’s endure.
A/N- Since everyone over 18 has died I decided not to kill the demons. Don’t ask me why it just doesn’t affect their physiology. Also Angel is still a vampire he just has no demon… I know it does not make much sense but I needed him around. I set it before their junior year because I did not want to deal with Aus and Hell and coming back and the mayor. Which brings me to him. He’s dead, he was basically human and over 18; hence death. Also Giles, sadly, died and not so sadly Ben died too; taking Glory with him. Dawn however will still appear because the monks (who have died) had to put the Key somewhere.
And yes I do love Hyena!Xander
Feedback: Would be much-ly appreciated

Angel’s furious. When Xander had not appeared after Cordy and Willow rejoined them a faint tendril of uneasiness began fraying his nerves. When no one was able to say exactly where they thought Xander was Angel became more worried. He quickly checked with several tribes that Alpha Tribe was friendly with. Good Witches, a tribe formed around a small coven and headed by a friend of Willow’s called Tara, had a tribe member who had been watching the fights. She had seen Xander sign in but had left after a couple of fights. Willow had grown pale with anger: mad that Xander was risking himself for trade items or mad because he had never told her Angel did not know. He sensed trouble and wasted no time in ordering Willow, Faith, Cordy, Andrew and Oz back to the tent.
When he had reached the fight tent however he found Xander was gone. Checking with the bookies he learned that he had just barely missed Xander’s last fight.
Against Graham Miller of Tribe Velocity.
And Xander had lost.
To say he was pissed would have been and understatement but when he got to the alley to hear Graham whispering a stalker’s form of ‘sweet nothings’ in Xander’s ear and the brunet male reaching out for the other man’s cock…
He got so fucking enraged that he had slammed the sentry into the wall and knocked him out before calling out Xander’s name. Good, he got the boys attention, and Grahams too by the looks of it. Xander’s face has flushed dark and it looks like he’s trying to move but Grahams hand was holding him in place. Growling Angel moves forward ready to rip the bastard off of Xander except Graham just bends over to whisper a few things in Xander’s ear before he’s off, dropping the trade tickets he had formerly held to the ground. The whisper had not been to soft for Angel to catch and as the brunet he had come to collect stares despondently at the scattered paper he takes the time to collect himself.
“When they realize what you are Xander, come back to me, you’ll always have a place in Riley’s bed and mine. Keep the tickets.” Graham had whispered and it makes Xander feel dirty. Dirty because he knows that Angel now knows what type of person he is. That Xander’s a dirty little whore, willing to give it up to anyone who gives him the time of day. A fucking pain slut craving anything so long as he can feel it, so long as he’s there.
When Xander finally moves to collect the tickets that Graham threw at him Angel growls, grabbing the slips out of his hands and pulling the younger man to his feet, dragging him along the path back to Alpha Tribes tent. Xander stumbles to keep up, wincing when it gets his arm wrenched to fall behind and wondering just how Angel had managed to grab onto the exact same place Graham had already left finger shaped bruises. Then the vampire stopped, and Xander stumbled into his leather clad back before the golden-eyed and angry other man whirled around to face him. “Is that how you usually get tickets?” Angel hisses at him, even though he knows that Xander was in the fight tent earlier but he has to be sure. “Go on your knees for any guy in an alley?” The brunet winces and his eyes go blank as all emotion is quickly hidden behind walls of shame and pain that are far older then just two years.
“No. I fight. Tonight got out of hand.” Xander says shortly, but he wonders what the point is in explaining anyway. Angel was only going to despise him, and eventually kick him out of Alpha tribe probably. Or he’d have to leave in shame after everyone found out.
“Out of hand? You said you could handle it if we saw Velocity here, fuck Harris...” And they’re marching off towards the tent against so Angel misses the flash of pain that leaps over Xander’s blank wall at the use of his last name. However before they get half-way there Angel’s whirling around again. “I want to know, right now and in complete detail what the fuck happened when you were with Velocity.” Xander nodded, he knew that this had been coming.
“Fine, you want to know what happened I’ll tell you. Like I said before, I was in a bad, bad place. I had never had a tendency to be the best at anything, except a dumbass, I never expected much in life. My parents were abusive drunks who hated each other and hated me more. But they were the only parents I had so just leaving them to death through Alcohol made me feel excessively guilty. I was worried about the hell mouth and everyone back here but I got word that Alpha Tribe had already formed up. I didn’t think you needed me. That’s where Graham steps up to the plate,”
Xander was wandering through yet another ramshackle town when he met Graham. He had been trying to figure out what the heck he could do with his life when suddenly there was a vampire in his way, Xander had pulled out his stake and poof no vampire. There was however a very hunky brunet watching him, Xander opened his mouth to ask if the other was all right and found a tongue shoved down his throat.
“Loads of fun was had by all. He brought me home to Team V and Riley, and then he and Riley proceeded to introduce me to the fun of sodomy, bondage, and domination. I was sliding down into a position as a fuck-doll when I met Dawn.”
Lank blonde hair hanging in front of a face, and behind that curtain of hair a pair of confused hazel eyes met hers. She was too thin, and her clothes would not even make good rags. The girls eyes blinked closed as Xander lifted her into his embrace, carrying her into the cluster of tents. He knew that they would help take care of her. After all, no one said no to Graham and Riley’s bedmate.
“I started spending a lot of time with her. At first it was checking up on her progress but then I was feeding her, bringing her trinkets I had found, telling her stories of life in Sunnydale, and falling asleep with her hand curled in mine. Of course,” And Xander inserted a bitter laugh here, refusing to meet Angel’s eyes as he remembered and recounted. “Graham and Riley didn’t like that.”
Xander dashed into the tent he shared with Graham and Riley, anger clear on his face. A cold hard rage sitting under his skin and he barely restrained the need he felt for violence. Sitting on their bed was a partially dressed and well kissed looking Graham, Riley was curling around him hands pawing at the other man. Graham pressed a kiss to Riley’s shoulder before looking at Xander. “Yes?” Complete and total indifference in that voice, and Xander knows. He’s not guilty at all, the indifference is supposed to make Xander feel worse and to hide the pleasure Graham took in his actions.
“Did you know there was a panther out there?” Xander’s voice is cold, hard, dead and flat and this finally gets the two men who called themselves his lovers attentions. Only briefly though before they go back to making out.
“Yes, we informed everyone.” Graham replied, throwing out that statement like a slap in the face.
“You didn’t tell Dawn.” It was one of Dawn’s first days up and around and she was supposed to be going berry picking with a group. The young girl had not been sure but Xander had encouraged her to do it, and this makes the brunet more remorseful.
“Oh? Well ask anyone, we made a public announcement, it’s her fault if she didn’t pay attention.” Riley cannot help but hide the pleasure he got from this action. The bitch had been distracting their pet, and that had meant less sex. Now though Xander was going to get punished because they were going to ignore him and see how he liked it. The brunet shot him a disgusted glance and stormed out.
“They found the panther’s head sitting in my bed the next day. I took with me what I had had when I left Sunnydale and some things for Dawn. We got out of there are fast as we could. Then we ended up back on the hell mouth and working with you guys.” Xander keeps his eyes on the ground, anticipating Angel telling him to leave or something but is only met with silence. Giving into the urge he looks up into Angel’s face.
Angel had been waiting for the boy to look up at him. “How would Dawn feel to know that you almost went back to that? To them? Right there in that alley it looked like you were going to. What about Willow? If she knew how much you had been hurting so much and hadn’t come to her, she’d be devastated.”
“Please,” Because all he can do is beg, it’s all he has left. “Don’t tell them.”
“If I ever see you about to suck off a guy who wants you subjugated and to take you away from your friends I will tell the whole fucking tribe. And we will lock you in your room until some sense revives in your brain even if I have to get Willow to do a spell to re-awaken your gray matter. If you ever believe that we do not need you, that you’re worthless I will personally make a slideshow of how much of a difference you make.” Dropping Xander’s arm Angel once again starts towards the tent. He only gets a few paces before he realizes that the mortal boy wasn’t following. Turning he looked at the shell-shocked teen and smiled. “Coming?”
Slowly a smile bloomed over Xander’s face and he started forward, walking back to Alpha Tribe’s tent ready to face anything Even Willow’s wrath.
Willow was incredibly wrathful, she had ranted and raved before finally collapsing in Xander’s arms sobbing out her worry. Faith had hit him and Cordy had to, Xander did not quite manage to hide the wince caused by their actions and soon all three females were cooing over him. Since it would heal eventually though Xander stood firm on not using any medicines on him. Oz saw the circle of bruises on his arms though, and Faith noted the finger-shaped injuries too. Both cornered Angel about it.
“Yo, Angel. Wanna tell Wolfboy and I about what really happened tonight? Xan said he lost a fight.” Angel turned to face the slayer controlling his face and movements. Ever since finding Xander he had wanted to beat the crap out of something but was unable to. The look on the Slayer’s face told him she’d beat the shit out of him if that’s what he wanted. Still it was Xander’s secret and he was not sure how much he should tell these two or how much they had already figured out.
“That’s right Faith. He lost a fight.” Waits for the reaction, surprisingly it comes from Oz.
“Bullshit.” Quiet voice, soft tone unable to hide the wealth of rage behind that statement. “I saw his arms. That type of bruise doesn’t happen in a fight.” Soft subsonic growl and Angel has to remind himself that neither of the people he is dealing with are fully human. Faith’s mind is as sharp as her eyes so she asks the next logical question.
“Who’d he lose to?”
“Graham Miller, second-in-command of Tribe Velocity.” Faith and Oz exchange glances. Puzzled glances, before looking back at Angel.
“He the guy who had X so tense awhile back? And Dawnie so scared?” Realization dawning in Faith’s eyes as she connects the dots. Xander had been tense after the visit, and Dawn had been scared and if both of them had been acting strange then it had to have been about before Xander came back to Alpha tribe.
“What did he do?” Oz asked, quietly, they were only in the front of the tent, far enough away that the others wouldn’t be able to hear but none of them wanted to risk anyone overhearing.
“After beating Xander? Hauled him into an alleyway and almost forced him into oral sex.” Stunned glassy eyes and the vampire wonders if maybe there wasn’t a better way to phrase that.
Faith understands now. She finally realized why she sensed a kindred spirit in the Xanman when she made her way to Alpha Tribe from Boston. Now Faith understands the brief flashes of hurt and something she labeled as ‘scared little boy’ when someone would say something nice or occasionally playfully offensive. Now she knows why Xander had verbally whittled down another tribe member for calling her a whore once.
After both the werewolf and the slayer have a chance to calm down they turn their hungry vengeful eyes on Angel. “No. We’re not going after them. However keeping Xander away from them would be a very, very good idea. He’s letting the past dictate his actions and I will Not allow him to go back to being a ‘fuck doll’.” Wry twist to his lips and then all three nod coming to an agreement. Keep Xander safe. Keep everyone else happy and non-homicidal. Hu, funny how the two coincided.
“It’s against the rules to attack another tribe at Market.” Oz said softly and Angel knows what he means. Market had strict rules on trade even though rates of exchange depended on the tribe, but it also had rules regulating other tribes affairs only one on fighting outside the fight tent though, and that was ‘don’t’. Violations of that rule would get a tribe banned form the Market, unfortunately since Market was so new Angel was not sure he wanted to test the rule out.
“Technically Xander fought Graham in the Fight Tent, and the only thing that was forced would have been keeping him in the alley. Xan would never come out in public to tell people what happened, it’s a private affair for him.” Angel says and that’s the end of the conversation as everyone splits up for the night.
The next afternoon finds Willow looking over spell ingredients in the tent of a tribe from the Mexican border. They managed to get all sorts of herbs and stuff so Willow couldn’t help but be interested. Feeling a tap on her shoulder she turned around and a bright smile illuminated her face. “Amy!” She shrieked and hugged the other girl to her chest. It had been forever since she had seen her. “Oh my goddess, I don’t think I’ve seen you since Freshman year! How have you been? Where have you been?” The blonde smiles and tucks a stray piece of hair behind her ear, smiling slightly at Willow.
“I’ve been around. I left Sunnydale after the whole ‘We’re on the Mouth of Hell’ speech. Joined up with a tribe in Northern California. Been there ever since” Amy looks pleased with herself and Willow smiles, glad that the girl has something to be proud of.
“That’s great! Why are you here? Are you a witch too?” Willow babbles, she can’t help it, it’s a nervous habit that sneaks up on her sometimes. Ten seconds in Amy’s presence and already she’s sensing something off about the other girl. Something…. Skin-crawly, and suddenly she’s wondering where Faith is because she knows that she came into the tent with her.
“Yeah, I’m a witch.” And Amy is getting way to close for Willow’s comfort but the redhead’s backed into a corner and doesn’t want to call attention to her problem. And Eek! Amy’s hands are in places Willow does not want anyone’s hands but Xander’s and maybe Spike’s. “And I’m a part of Tribe Velocity.” Icy-cold blood in her veins and Willow is suddenly thrumming with power. Oh, so the wiggins were caused for the same reason as the wiggins about Riley and Graham had been caused. Oooooo-kay….
“Amy, I will ask you once. What do you want?” Amy’s lips are just barely brushing her ear, hands holding tight to Willow’s hips. The other witch chuckled before speaking.
“Oh I want nothing more then to suck all that magic right out of you. Can’t though. Just supposed to distract you enough so my chiefs can finish playing with your boytoy.” Willow froze then, heart going cold and dead as she remembered Xander’s injuries from last night and two rings of bruises on his arms.
“Willow? What the hell are you doing? Get off her!” Suddenly Faith’s there, tearing Amy away and the other girl is just laughing. Hands holding her stomach and laughing and Willow knows she’ll be too late, knows in that special ‘something bad happened’ way. “Who the fuck are you?” Faith is growling at Amy but Willow grabs her arm and pulls her towards the tent flap.
“No time, she doesn’t matter. We have to get to Xander now.” Urgency clear in her voice and the brunette Slayer’s eyes flash in understanding as both girls hurry to heir friend.
