kat8chaSo! Today we went to China Town to see the Lion's Dance Parade and eat Chinese food and otherwise have fun.
(That's me in the pink hat, btw). I look better here but that's a picture taken at the end of the day not during.
The place was packed. I mean packed. Tons of people, though it tapered off as the day wore on. And it was *cold* too.
The lion dance was fun to watch, though every time it was preformed there was a RIDICULOUSLY huge crowd. We got closer for some of the others, but I took this shot early. There was this orange and yellow lion, and a red and orange one, and two black ones. There might have been more. We wandered around and looked for this dim sum place that my sister remembered, but we couldn't find it, so we picked this BBQ place because the ducks hanging in the window looked good. XD I ordered this fried tofu and shrimp paste thing which took forever to come but was *really good*. Like, 10 blocks of fried tofu too so we only ate about half of it. Maggie ordered hot pot with salted fish and tofu, and Matt ordered pork and duck on rice. And we were on the second floor right by the windows, so we got a good view of some more of the lion dances going on.
SAY HELLO TO BLAKE. He's my little Chinese new year lucky lion. XD We saw him while wandering around, but I didn't want to buy anything... but I really wanted him... and so after we left the parade I mentioned it (we'd only just left) and Maggie was all 'WELL LET'S GO BACK' so we did. And I bought him.
AND HE IS AMAZING. The mouth opens and closes if you pull on one of the strings, and there's a bell attached to his tail, and it's just adorable. XD Everyone on the subway commented on it and some guy offered to buy him from me for $30. >>;;;
