kat8chaSO… September is fandom month! And since this week isn’t a full week, I figured I’d do some of the OTPs of my smaller fandoms. First, and most fabulous, is Tim/Kon otherwise known as Robin/Superboy. For those of you who weren’t around for my shipping!week or my moar than Rikkai and Hyotei week, this is the way it goes.
Every day (or as close to it as I can get) I’ll make a post for either the pairing I’m promoting or whatever team/person/etc. This post will be filled with canon back up of the pairing and ‘why I love it’ snippets. There will probably be fanart shared as well, and links to my favorite fanfics of that pairing/group/etc.
AND SO. Off on a great start… with a lot of pictures. Jeezus…
Their first meeting! It’s not terribly auspicious, I admit, but it was the perfect meeting for these two.
For those of you who have no idea who these two are but still, for some bizarre reason, clicked the cut… Kon is the kid with the S on his chest, Tim is, well, the one in the Robin costume. Tim’s the third Robin (Dick – Jason – Tim – Stephanie – back to Tim – Damian) to exist so far. He’s brainy and REALLY repressed. Kon’s a horn dog who is at times intelligent and at others… uh. Yeah.
As a pairing, they just… work. Whether they’re being BFFs in canon or if they’re off having hot gay sex in fanon… they fit. Kon’s big, but not dumb, and Tim’s generally reminding him of this. Tim’s serious and grim and Kon’s generally telling him to lighten up.
No, seriously, that is like, their relationship in a nutshell.
They don’t get off to a great start, pairing up to fight Metallo and ending up with Kon under Poison Ivy’s seductive spell and it honestly takes them years to work it out. They do form Young Justice (young, just us) with Bart Allen, aka Impulse, but it’s not smooth sailing despite the three of them working well together.
Kon bucks against Tim’s natural leadership, Tim finds Kon’s immaturity and ego grating. It should be noted that during the 90’s Kon was a LOT more immature than he became in Teen Titans. He was, like I said above, a horn dog and there was a fair bit of a publicity hound to him as well. While he might have done good he wasn’t above using his status as ‘Superboy’ to get chicks. Robin, however, during the 90’s was an ‘urban legend’ who could neither confirm nor deny his existence to the public.
Yeah, that’s right, no photo ops for Tim.
Given how MUCH public being Kon’s friend and a member of Young Justice got him… well, it’s not like he was really a secret.
One of the big points of the Tim/Kon friendship/relationship is that Kon calls Tim on it when he’s being battish. Like here, where Tim’s doing the GRAND UNVEILING of his REAL FACE without a mask on and… telling everyone an alias and Kon’s being all ‘oh BS’.
Calling him on the battiness, it’s what Kon does.
While Tim is around to tell Kon when he’s being an idiot.
It’s often, in the old days. Also, Kon is totally the butch guy there, I loved when they used to draw him with facial fuzz.
And yes, clearly they have just banged… instead of clearly they just got their asses kicked and Kon had to fix his costume.
Actually, Tim is there because Batman told him that he thought Tim should join the Titans to see his friends. Which is why it’s funny when a few issues later the entire Justice League shows up and has a showdown with the Titans. Batman aend Tim are very snarly at each other, and when Batman calls Kon ‘the clone’ Tim reacts with ‘he’s a kid JUST LIKE ME’.
Tim gets defensive of Kon, also protective, and with reason. Kon did just find out he was half Lex Luthor…
…I’m actually really confused on how Kon thinks he’s going to FIT one of Tim’s shirts but hey…
Who does Tim call when he needs someone to pretend to be him and potentially get their asses kicked? Kon. Who does get his ass kicked, Supers are not immune to magic. It’s really cute though, they both insult each other.
And another point of ‘BFFery’ as Kon tells Tim that HE IS TIM DRAKE IT’S NOT A PART TO PLAY. …Tim has issues, did I mention this? It’s alright because Kon has issues of his own and they both have issues together.
Mainly daddy issues.
That’s Future!Evil!Kon dangling poor good present time Tim in the air before knocking him out. :( In this future the Titans have gone evil, and it’s all Tim’s fault. OKAY IT’S NOT but at the same time it actually totally is because in a FUTURE story line it’s revealed that the evil Titans are all clones that Tim created to replace his dead lost friends. …yeah. Oh, right.
Kon dies saving the world.
Tim obsesses. A lot.
A *lot*.
He tries to clone Kon (which is why there is actually some pretty hot Clone!fic out there) and uh, fails. He does, however, make out with Cassie, Kon’s girlfriend.
AND THEN HE OBSESSES OVER THAT once Kon gets brought back from the Dead. Like, seriously, both Cassie and Tim are like OH GOD WE HAVE TO TELL KON ABOUT THAT ONCE KISS WE SHARED. Once. In the year he was dead. (YEARS RL wise, a year or so comic wise.)
Yeah. Tim’s a little messed up. :( BUT THINGS HAPPEN.
AND HE GETS BETTER! :D
…okay, so, he finds out that his mentor isn’t really dead and gives Kon a BIG OLD HUG because YAY RESSURECTED BEST FRIEND. And Kon gets to save Alfred from the evil ninjas, later, and I really didn’t do a good job of talking about why they’re my comic OTP.
…ah well.

Okay, so, TECHNICALLY the Tim/Kon in here is minimal but it DOES have a sequel with more Tim/Kon and the FRIENDSHIP does play a huge part.
I will also never stop reccing it. It’s amazing.

One of my first Tim/Kon fics to, uh, read. Not write. I wrote bad DC fic. Anyway, ANYTHING by the_te is just plain AMAZING alright. And her porn is just a visceral punch to the cunt.
