kat8cha: (PoT - Jirou is Happy)

Jirou knew he was weird. He'd known for a long time, since he was a child. His parents had rarely interacted with him and had left Jirou to his day dreams and his psychic nannies. Soon enough Jirou's daydreams had evolved into very long catnaps with very interesting dreams… and his psychic nannies. And from there Jirou had just… dreamed. He liked to sleep, it freed him from his heavy earthly body. Sure people could do all sorts of things now. They could fly, they could watch TV on the back of their eyelids… but really, what was more awesome than dreaming? You could do anything when you dreamed.

Like right now. Right at that very moment Jirou was having tea with Hiyoshi while seated at a table made of light blue clouds. There was a delicate china tea set between them with milk and sugar and lemon and honey. Looking past Hiyoshi at the dreamscape's roiling clouds he absentmindedly changed their color to straw yellow, the color of Hiyoshi's hair, before picking up an imaginary cookie and eating it.

Real food filled his stomach but in his dreams Jirou could eat cookie after cookie and never get a stomachache and never get a cavity.

A cloud appeared above Hiyoshi's head and it crackled with doom and gloom and lightening. Jirou laughed and it dissipated.

Don't be so grumpy! The tea set disappeared and Jirou was across the space between them, ruffling Hiyoshi's hair and pinching at his grumpy cheeks. Wakashi! Don't you want to come back?

And that was the crux of the matter wasn't it? Hiyoshi had tried to kill Atobe, had in fact almost succeeded. If it hadn't been for the minor failsafe installed in Hyotei's electrical weapons (that they could never truly kill any one electronically coded as a Hyotei psychic) Atobe would have died. In fact, since Hiyoshi had nearly overridden that failsafe, if it hadn't been for Oshitari's immediate cryostasis of Atobe's body and the Church of St. Rudolph's miraculous technology and healing psychics… Well, Hiyoshi should have been in a lot of trouble, and possibly if Oshitari had caught up to Hiyoshi he might have been.

Except Hiyoshi was far more useful alive. After all if someone could get close to ATOBE a high level empathy and psychic who could control people like puppets and actually had an edge of precognition… if someone could get close to ATOBE and harm them… well. What other kind of people could Hiyoshi hurt?

That, and Atobe actually enjoyed Hiyoshi's company. He thought the younger psychic was a useful sort.

Atobe had always liked the grumpy types. Like Shishido. But he also liked the cheerful type! Like Jirou! And Jirou liked almost everyone.

You want to come back, don't you Wakashi? Jirou pressed forward and pushed Hiyoshi back into soft, cushy, enveloping clouds, trapping Hiyoshi there. Being able to bring someone's consciousness into his dream was not the same as invading their mind. Jirou could bring a fully shielded psychic into his dream state and not be able to touch them at all. But Hiyoshi's shields had been down when Jirou had enveloped him and that gave Jirou a little leeway, a little more push.

No. I left Hyotei for a reason. Images played on the clouds beside Hiyoshi's head, images that Hiyoshi couldn't see but Jirou could. Information they hadn't had before.

Because your cousin asked you. Surprise, tinges of worry, slight edge of fear. If Jirou had been someone like Oshitari he'd have smirked. If he had been Shishido he'd have sneered. If he had been Ohtori he would have soothed.

But he wasn't any of them.

Wakashi! Don't you like us anymore? Don't you miss us?

I-

Hiyoshi would give in eventually. He'd never held out under the full force of Jirou before, and that had almost always been when Jirou was awake and out of his element. Now Jirou was surrounded by his woolly clouds in the seat of his power.

And since it was a dream he had all the time in the world.
