Byakuran had always resisted cheesy shows of power. Tall desks and short chairs and open skylights behind him were so cliché. Just like capes and masks were part of the costumed crowd. Of course, Shou-chan liked capes but Shou-chan had always been a fan of the dramatic. Shouichi had always been good at ignoring the mundane and focusing on the extraordinary but only in his books and only in his mind never in the real world. It was why Byakuran had gotten so much out of his best friend before Shouichi had looked up and noticed something was wrong.
Now, though, well… Byakuran watched the security footage of Shouichi sneaking out in the rain, glanced at the other monitors covered in spliced together footage of Shouichi's secretive walk through town until he climbed to the top of Namimori News. That was when the footage got fuzzy, Byakuran did not have cameras planted on the Namimori News rooftops, instead he had to watch footage taken from further away. Fuzzy footage that was still clear enough to show Shouichi meeting with Cloud and Sky, members of the Vongola.
Ah, superheroes.
Byakuran leaned back in his chair and threaded his fingers together. He had always known it was only a matter of time before Shouichi had realized that some of his technology went towards more than just helping people and saving lives. After all what did Shouichi think Byakuran was going to DO with a device that could wipe memories from someone's mind? Or one that could cripple a man with a touch? No, Shou-chan should have realized a long time ago.
He'd never approved of those projects anyway but he had built them.
Really, Byakuran thought as he watched Shouichi wave off Sawada Tsunayoshi and Hibari Kyouya off, Shou-chan could be so foolish.
Ah, but he would make a worthy adversary, and it's not like defeating this little rebellion would put Byakuran's conquering of the world behind schedule.
