Dec. 25th, 2009 10:55 pmSo.
...so.
So I didn't post about it last night, but the reason I was posting things at 3 in the morning was b/c my family conspired to wake me up. I took painkillers and after mass at 6:30 was ready to just... zonk out. And so I did at 10, when my older sister left to go home and sleep and the rest of the family went to mass at Dad's church.
Around midnight, when I was dozing comfortably, snug and warm and dreaming weird things... Juliet thumps into my room. And I'm like '??? wha?'
So. Andrew got locked out of his house. I know Juliet said Andrew lost his keys. But IDK if he just Forgot them, or if he couldn't find them and left the house without making plans for what he would do when he needed to get back in. His roommate apparently is out of town this weekend. Probably why Andrew had a big party the night before. So. Juliet wakes me up, and is like 'so can he borrow a ladder?'
And I'm thinking 'to break into his own house? that sounds like a good idea...' But I say 'call parents, and it should be fine as long as he returns it.'
Well, parents are of course not picking up the phone because they're at midnight mass which has apparently not clicked for Juliet as going to Midnight.
So I roll over and I'm like 'dammit'. B/c drugged sleep doesn't last long, and really once I've had a nap I don't need it anymore. Later my family gets home and deals with Andrew and Juliet getting the ladder.
Dad: ~comments on how they don't have a brain to share between them~
Brother: Well if they take the parts of them that work and mix them together...
Sister: They make a baby?
Which is sad but true. -_-
Anyway. So that was that. And then I was up. I did get to sleep in till like, 10 after I fell asleep. But then Beth was coming over and Shane and stuff so I had to get up. So I did, and honestly I'm GRUMPY lately. Christmas is not my best season. Anyway. Shane gets here, and after brunch we start opening presents.
If we stacked Shane's presents, they'd have been taller than he was. The kid got a LOT of junk, and he just got PRESENTED OUT. He was like 'can I play with my toys? I don't want to open anything else'. And of course you want Shane to like YOUR PRESENT BEST so when he picks a present he DOES like best you kind of go. :( Awww.
So, next to Shane's BUTLOAD, the rest of us were kind of like '...?' I know, it's childish, but we all got a) the presents from the exchange (which were generally relatively well thought out) and b) presents from parents.
...which were. Lame this year. Like, srsly. My sister Marian got srsly shafted, and complained about it. She spent a bunch of money on parents, and worried about them calling her on spending TOO MUCH money. And she got... a scarf, a 30 dollar necklace, and a book.
I got a few shirts, and some leggings.
Despite me stating repeatedly that I needed pants.
Me: So, mom, if you haven't gotten my Christmas present yet. You know what'd be nice? Pants.
Me: So, my jeans are going to die soon. I COULD GO FOR SOME PANTS.
Me: I don't really have a pair of nice dress pants that fits properly.
She got me two pairs of leggings. Do I wear leggings? ...no. Why? Because a) I don't like them, and b) they look stupid on me, and c) they don't fit. I have short, stubby, FAT legs.
But yeah. Mom seemed to have done all the shopping for the family, because just... Dad didn't even pay any attention to that. And I'm just... *head desk*. Srsly. Please.
My gifts from Beth were great though. Another bag (yes, I DO need one more), a neat scarf (which you can see me wear here with a shirt from mom), THIS AWESOME SHIRT, and a wicked neat hat. Also, an Annie Oakley action figure, as that is what I went as for Halloween.
Then, after brunch, present opening, playing, talking, and lunch, we headed for dinner at my cousins. Of course, we were the first to arrive, and yet we were 'late'? Like, timing for this was not coordinated very well.
Dinner was pretty good. And dessert okay. IDK. I just feel so full. The highlight of the day was of course the children.
I love the children. :D
Shane'll be 2 soon, and Ryan's a few months older. Bb Max is JUST teething.
It took some effort, b/c Ryan's so srs and kind of shy, and Shane's... Shane, but we got them to play together. Including rumbling and wrestling and playing around. It was adorable and entertaining.
Then later I got to hold bb Max and he was like 'damn, this person is PERFECT TO SLOBBER ON'. He like, slobbered and gummed all over my arm, and my fingers, and later just up and down my other arm. XD Srsly. If I was holding him he was gnawing on me. NOM NOM NOM.
...so.
