Nov. 23rd, 2009 09:37 pmFew people realized just how dangerous Irie Shouichi was. Irie Shouichi's promotions through the Millefiore ranks, all the way up to captain of the Rosa squad as favoritism. Byakuran's affections for Shouichi were, after all, Byakuran regularly called Shouichi his most trusted confidant. Shouichi was Byakuran's assistant as well as being a captain, and Byakuran lavished him with physical and verbal affection. Not to mention the flowers that were often delivered to Irie Shouichi's room, found tucked into Irie's hair, or his jacket. Members of the Black Spell looked down their noses at Irie, and White Spell members bristled noticeably when Irie walked by. Iris had seen it all happen, and hadn't paid any attention to it.
Before the raid on the Vongola Iris had thought the same as the rest of White Spell. Irie Shouichi was weak, pathetic, fit only for a life behind the computer and under Byakuran's thumb.
"Squad eleven, come in!" Iris ignored Shouichi's voice in her ear. The communicators were both annoying and helpful. Without then Iris was sure more 'friendly fire' between Black and White spell would have been exchanged.
The connection filled with a vague crackle. Iris ignored it in favor of crushing the fingers of one Vongola fighter under her fingers. The half dead man groaned and Iris smirked. She stepped over him and followed her Death Squad towards the mansion. There was smoke pouring out of the once elegant house, windows were shattered or partially broken, glass had cut the front gardens to shreds. Men and women's bodies were littered over the front lawn. This is nothing like the take over of the Giglio Nero, a fairly bloodless merging, or the take over of other small mafia families the Millefiore has accumulated. This is a personal vendetta, a bloody destruction of one family.
This is war, and Irie Shouichi has managed it all.
"Vongola spotted!" Someone shouts over the line. "He's escaping through the back!"
"Status report." Irie demanded, his voice cold. Iris paused to kick a body out of the way. She pressed one finger to her ear bud and thought. Should she tell Irie her position? Or just go around the back and head off the Vongola? Iris was sure her death squad could handle the man.
"The storm guardian is being carried by the ra- they're in the garage!"
"Damn it!" A solid thunk, Irie must have hit something. Iris smirked. The garage was on the other side of mansion, so she'd just take her time with these weaklings. "Squad six! Mughetto squad! I need you to head them off!"
A hiss, crackle, the heavy rumble of an engine. No, two engines. Iris felt the ground under her feet vibrate. The Vongola Tenth's motor cycles. Two cycles turned the corner nearest Iris, chewing up the formerly manicured lawn. Iris snapped her whip to signal the Death Stalk Squad, but out of nowhere several men with weak boxes flung themselves forward, attacking her useless former lovers. Iris takes a few seconds to finish them off before turning to follow the Vongola.
Irie Shouichi is standing in the middle of the lawn. He has a gun. Iris can see the white doors of the mobile command unit he had just left. The Vongola Tenth's head is disguised by a helmet, but there is no mistaking his dying will flames, the gloves on his hands.
Iris wonders why he's not flying.
Irie Shouichi should not be able to hit such a fast moving target. But his sun mare ring flares to life and the bullet flies true, shaded in yellow fire. It hits the Vongola Tenth and the other man goes down, his bike flying out from between his legs into the surrounding forest. It crashes into the trees and grumbles to a halt.
The Rain guardian, and it has to be him since the other Guardians were out of the country, slides his motorcycle to a halt. Irie raises his gun again, and the rain guardian revves his motorcycle and dodges the shot, the bullet embeds itself in a tree. Seconds later the rain guardian is gone.
The sound of Iris' heels clicking on the bodies and broken glass is almost like applause. "You killed him." She says. Irie Shouichi turns his head with a snap, and his face is surprised. It shutters seconds later. The first real emotion Iris has seen Irie display is hidden behind his calm, arrogant façade. Iris smirks, because she knows he's earned it now. "Well done."
"I have to notify Byakuran-san." Irie turns back towards the command center, but pauses before he enters it. "Guard the body, Byakuran-san will want to send it back to the Vongola untouched."
"Get over here!" Iris orders her squad. "Whatever you want, Irie."
