Dino liked Japanese stores. In fact, Dino found a lot of things about Japan really cute. All the people were so short and tiny, with dark eyes and dark hair and polite little mannerisms that screamed 'you are a big, tall, loud foreigner, please get away from me'. Dino thought that was the cutest way of telling him to go away ever. Well, nearly, Kyouya's 'I will bite you to death' was truly the cutest saying ever.
"Boss." Romario stood at the end of one of the grocery store shelves. Dino was perusing the candy section of the store while Romario stood with a basket filled with light snacks. When they came to Japan Dino made sure to bring Italian wine for the men (although when Romario went out with Tetsu Dino knew that they drank beer, or sake) and home grown coffee. It was not that the Japanese had bad coffee, or bad wine, but when his men were plunked down in Japan for a few weeks Dino liked to bring a touch of home.
They bought Japanese snacks though, which was why they were at the grocery store.
"Coming, Romario!"
Sticking his hands in his pockets Dino began strolling down the aisle. Upon reaching the end of the aisle, Dino stopped.
"…Hello, Kyouya!"
Hibari stood at the end of another aisle, a ten pound bag of rice held in his arms. Hearing Dino's greeting Hibari turned, and his eyes narrowed into dangerous little slits.
'Loud, irritating herbivore, get out of my sight' was what Dino heard. What Hibari said was, "Bucking Horse. Get out."
Dino made a shooing motion at Romario, and the man walked over to the grocery line, being sure to stay in Dino's line of sight. Dino smiled at Hibari and walked over to the younger man, his stride lazy and relaxed. Hibari looked like, but for the grace of the ten pound bag of rice in his arms, he would rip Dino to bits and then grind the pieces under his heel. "Out shopping?"
Hibari's narrowed eyes got even narrower. "It's no-"
"Kyou-chan!" A feminine voice called out, and a woman in precarious looking black heels walked quickly down the main aisle. She was carrying a green grocery basket, like Romario, but it was filled with raw ingredients. "I told you to wai- ah! You got the rice!" The woman was slightly taller than Hibari, but that might just have been the high heels. She had delicate black hair piled on top of her head and held in place by a pair of pencils.
Hibari glanced at the woman, than at Dino. The sharp eyed older woman followed Hibari's eyes to a shell shocked Dino. She blinked. "Hello."
"A-ah!" Dino blinked again, his mouth opening and closing and opening and… "It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Hibari." Dino bowed, quickly. Even with Romario nearby Dino felt as nervous and clumsy as he had as a teenager. Despite Reborn's lessons, Dino had never been good with women. Not really.
"Is this one of your friends, Kyou-chan?" The woman patted her son's shoulder with a type of casual intimacy that would get anyone else killed. Dino's befuddled look shifted into utterly amused, a grin spreading across his face. 'Kyou-chan' was glaring at him murderously. Dino was sure the next time they faced off (tomorrow, since Dino was mixed up in Tsuna's business and Hibari was Tsuna's guardian) Hibari would do his damndest to kill him. Not that Hibari ever fought him without trying to kill him, Hibari never fought him half assed. "It's nice to meet you…"
"Dino." Dino held out his hand, and the slight woman took it gently. Dino was tempted to kiss it, but he liked his lips attached to the rest of his face. "Dino Calvallone. It's very nice to meet Kyouya's mother, ma'am." Dino had always thought that Hibari's mother had died in a fire, or fighting herbivores or something. Dino had never considered that the woman was alive. Alive and cheerful.
Hibari's mother was *cheerful*.
"Kyou-chan never lets me meet any of his friends." Hibari's mother said carelessly. "You should come by for dinner some time!" And then Hibari's mother gave him a quick up and down with her dark, cheerful eyes. Her voice dropped, became something low and husky and oh god. "Come by for dessert too."
"U-N-UM." Dino's mouth stumbled along. Hibari was going to kill him. Or at least de-man him. "Mrs. Hibari, I think I hear my men calling. I'll talk to you later!"
When Dino turned away to rush to Romario, Hibari's mother pinched his ass.
