Things are different, now that she is back from the future. Chrome knew they would be of course, she had changed, and even if Mukuro, Ken, and Chikusa were still the same, Chrome was a different person. Taking her first step in her proper time she felt uneasy, shaky, and everything was suddenly strange. She had gotten so used to the future, to the Vongola's presence, to the sleek lines of the Vongola's base. Now she was returned to Kokuyo, which was in better shape than it would be in ten years, but still in poor shape compared to the new buildings she had been living in.
She could hear Mukuro.
"Mukuro-sama!" Chrome gasped out loud, unable to control herself. It felt so different to here her Mukuro, the Mukuro of her time period, instead of the older Mukuro. They both felt different, if that made any sense. And in the future Mukuro had been cut off from communicating with her, her mind had felt so empty after that, and even if Mukuro had briefly reappeared the last thing on his mind was Chrome.
'My cute Chrome," the ghost of a touch on her cheek, phantom fingers brushing past her hair, 'where have you been?'
"The future, Byakuran-san." Chrome opened up to Mukuro, but he barely touched her memories. Instead Mukuro pulled back from them.
'You have gotten stronger.' Chrome is not sure what to call the emotion flavoring Mukuro's words. Jealousy? Intrigue? It could be so many things, an amalgam of emotions. 'Did you have fun?'
Chrome thought about it. Had she enjoyed it? She had made friends with Bianchi, and I-Pin, and Kyoko, and Haru. Chrome had struggled, and better than that she had succeeded. Chrome had lived without Mukuro's help. "Yes, I had fun."
Another ghostly touch to her cheek, the slight chill pressure of a finger nail along the edge of her eye patch. 'I am glad, Chrome.'
She could hear Mukuro.
