Aug. 22nd, 2009 11:24 pmDino always laughs a little when he hears the phrase 'have your people call my people'. He knows that it is a phrase mostly used in jest. Most people can't imagine having subordinates who would take your call and arrange things. Dino, however, can, and he yearns for the days when things were as easy as having 'his people' call 'their people'. In some cases it is. If Dino wants to contact Hibari Kyouya for instance, he politely asks Romario to call up Tetsu and arrange a meeting.
Not that it always goes through. Kyouya is easily distracted (one might even say flighty if one was daring) and does not always show up. He's also easily angered, and so can begin a meeting with his fist in Dino's face, and end it covered in blood only partially his own.
The fact that there should be some negotiation, some sort of formality, some sort of *communication* to announce his arrival also doesn't mean that Hibari won't turn up in Dino's study, curled up on Dino's expensive and plush couch. Dino had replaced the expensive and uncomfortable one after Hibari had destroyed it in one of their 'friendly' fights. Dino was pretty sure that Hibari had done it on purpose though. After all, Hibari, known for napping just about anywhere, hadn't been able to fall asleep on the old solid leather coach.
Of course, that was just Hibari. Tsuna wasn't likely to come skipping into the Cavallone manse for a mid-day (mid-morning, mid-afternoon, and after dinner if you were Hibari) nap. It was not like back when Tsuna was in Middle School when Dino could just drop in on the kid, with Reborn's invitation, and special finagling from his subordinates. As Romario had once said 'they'll think you have nothing else to do'. Back then Dino'd had just as much to do as he does now, but TSUNA had certainly had less to do. Now that Tsuna was the Vongola Tenth, in truth not just in name, he found himself inundated with work, work, work. Dino also couldn't just drop in on the Vongola manse like he would have Tsuna's home in Namimori. There was considerably more security for one thing…
Dino talks to Romario, who calls the Vongola, and tries to speak with Gokudera. Often enough, Romario misses Gokudera and ends up speaking with someone else. Lambo, sometimes. This makes scheduling things incredibly hard because Gokudera isn't the type to take other people at their word, Lambo at his word most of all, and they play a protracted game of phone tag because Gokudera has apparently never understood calling during sane working hours.
Dino really hates answering the phone at 3 AM.
If Dino's lucky he'll be able to get in touch with Reborn on his own, and that always smooths things over. Well, a little. Reborn himself always makes sure to make things difficult. The day Dino comes to talk with Tsuna some sort of intra-family crisis will be happening. Then of course it becomes an inter-family crisis and this only causes even more problems. If the Vongola, and Dino, manage to get everything settled sometime before dinner, then Dino might have a chance to sit with Tsuna alone in Tsuna's darkly appointed study (Tsuna hasn't gotten around to redecorating, and the 9th did love mahogany) and talk. If they don't get everything settled by dinner than it's likely that whatever Dino needed to talk about is involved in whatever crisis the Vongola are dealing with and everything will work out fine in the end.
Everything almost always does after all.
