Aug. 10th, 2009 01:22 amThat first day that Shouichi recovered his memories, Byakuran knew. Byakuran knew a lot of thing; Byakuran knew about the various worlds, he knew the cures for AIDS, cancer, and swine flu, Byakuran knew that in a little known island off the coast of Italy a scarred young prince was making ends meat as a shepherd, and that in another country per his orders the Box Weapons were being developed secretly. Byakuran knew that, five years ago Irie Shouichi had lost all of his memories, because in some worlds the memories had come back sooner, and in others Irei's memories had never disappeared at all. Byakuran could see a multitude of possibilities.
He knew a lot of things.
So it really would have been impossible for Shouichi to hide his reactions from Byakuran, especially on that first day when the shock and horror had yet to wear off. Even on the second day, Shouichi's attempt to create distance while still keeping Byakuran unaware were like watching an emotionally retarded five year old play Juliet. Shou-chan's poor attempts to keep his plans secret, his obvious hopes, his feeble dreams…
Byakuran knew them all. But he knew as well that there would be no recovering Shouichi after this, the emotions that Shouichi held for him would be overpowered by Shouichi's morals and his mindset. So Byakuran would simply have to let Shouichi play out his game (so unlike Choice, and yet so similar, did Shouichi think he did not know?) and crush him. Because if Byakuran could not have Shouichi, than no one would.
