Jul. 31st, 2009 07:09 pmItsuki had a panic button, he did, it wasn't wired to anything impressive, but it would instantly alert Davide and Aoi. If Itsuki shouted, they would hear it and come. But Itsuki didn't move to push the panic button, he didn't let down his shields and contact them. For one thing, letting down his shields would let Kite right in.
Itsuki was not sure why he did not push the panic button.
"Itsuki." Kite looked just as surprised as Itsuki felt.
"…Kite." Itsuki's hands fluttered until he set them down on the counter. What should he do? Kite was a wanted cri- he should be a wanted criminal, Itsuki was not sure if Kite was actually in the system. If Kite was here, did that mean the rest of Higa was? Could they be tied to Atobe's death? Were they here to kill someone else? Yukimura might be a possible target…
Kite blinked, and his eyes focused back on the shop instead of Itsuki. "I'm not here on business." Kite stated, right away. "I am no longer in the business, so to speak."
"O-oh." Itsuki wondered if his thoughts really were just that loud. Kite smiled mirthlessly at him before walking around the shop, looking at the titles available. Itsuki fidgeted, unable to figure out where to look, what to do. Every time he glanced up he could see Kite moving in the aisles, and every time he looked down Itsuki thought about the way Kite moved. Finally Kite stepped over to the counter with a small electronic reader and a list of titles he would like loaded on it. A few of the titles were the slightly perverted things that Itsuki did not feel comfortable with.
Itsuki ran all the items through the counter, and the cost came up in blinking green letters. Kite handed him his card and all Itsuki could think to say was "I thought you liked real books." Itsuki wasn't sure why he needed to say anything at all, except that the brush of his fingers against Kite's when he took the card made him.
"I work on a ship now." Kite stated, taking the card back after Itsuki had charged it. Kite checked the reader to make sure that the books had loaded, and then tucked that into his pants as well. "They disintegrate when they're not planet side."
"They're very delicate here." Itsuki admitted.
Kite smiled at him again, this time with feeling, and then was leaning over the counter, pressing a kiss to Itsuki's lips. Emotions burst through Itsuki's mind. Panic on his end, calm control on Kite's, and a deep longing that unnervingly came from them both.
Itsuki was not sure why he did not push the panic button.
