Jul. 25th, 2009 01:40 amShouichi stared up at the past white ceiling of his Vongola room assignment. Since the young Vongola family had been returned to their past, things had begun to change. For one, Sawada had returned (been reborn, never left?) a changed man, different from his younger self, but also nothing like his older self. Sawada seemed to have no memories of his existence before the time travel episode, only having the memories from the younger Sawada up. Reborn had returned as well, but he was mysterious (and scary) so Shouichi could not judge if anything had changed about him.
Shouichi knew that it had troubled the guardians (returned to their rightful places) at first. They had also been unsure about how to treat Irie, or Spanner. Everyone except Hibari Kyouya, that is.
After that, it was small things. The box disappeared from beside Shouichi's machine, and Shouichi barely noticed. Things appeared in the room he had been assigned… and memories started to change. It happened in Gokudera first, Gokudera who had been switched out after Sawada. Things like his favorite breakfast meals, the way he wore his belts, the order of rings on his hands. Small things. Then Gokudera stopped glaring at him during meals.
The first time Gokudera called him 'obnoxious four eyes' instead of completely ignoring his existence Shouichi dropped a plate of pasta into his lap.
Yamamoto was next, the scar fading off one morning, his outfits moving from suits to more casual wear. Then the others.
Small things, at first, that added up in the end.
Shouichi could feel himself changing too. Yesterday he had woken up and the scar from the Choice battles was gone. Shouichi had stared in the mirror, unable to believe it. Seconds later he was fighting to remember what had panicked him.
Shouichi was not the last who's memories were being re-written by the world change, by the time travel, but he at least knew. Shouichi stared up at the white ceiling and wondered if there was anything that the past Guardians would have wanted to remember, if they could have.
Shouichi wondered if any of his own memories would be worth keeping.
