Elliot was hitting the point of 'I am so angry' that not even a typical pissed off explosion would help his mood. More than that, he was hitting the point that *killing* someone would not help. (Not that Elliot had ever, or would ever kill someone. He could not stomach the thought. Plus it would be wildly out of character, unless, perhaps, he was possessed by someone/something. Or the person he killed was a bad, bad person. Like the Baskervilles.)

Watching Gilbert *cradle* a baby did nothing to defuse Elliot's anger.

Reo slapped a hand over Elliot's mouth before Elliot could let loose a raging tsunami of verbal abuse. "He's sleeping, Elliot."

Elliot fumed behind Reo's hand, but bit back his angry torrent of words. The baby *was* asleep, and as weird and totally strange as it was to watch Gilbert (who should not have a baby, should NEVER have a baby, unless it was a Nightray heir and then that baby would be coddled by nannies, not by Gilbert himself) rock a child back and forth. In the back of Elliot's mind he had to stifle hard the faint memory of Gilbert comforting him after a bad nightmare, in the days before Reo.

Gilbert was *not* a caretaker. He was too useless and flighty for that.

"What do I do? What do I DO?!" Oz was panicking, he couldn't, there was a baby, it was. Oh god it was crying, and he was pretty sure it was damp, and he wasn't used to this! He might be able to face down incredibly scary things daily, but a *baby*?! Babies were… They were like little, itty bitty, easily damaged people! And while Oz had always called Gil a crybaby, Gil was nothing like an actual *crying baby*.

Crying babies were FAR scarier.

"Maybe it's hungry!" Alice chirped, far too cheerfully, and totally unhelpful. She had been just as panicked when someone had handed HER the baby, and the run off. It was Alice's fault the baby was crying too! She'd pinched it! Then she had handed it to Oz, because crying babies made even the Blood Drenched Black Rabbit shake in her extremely fashionable boots. "I'm hungry." Alice muttered, her stomach rumbles nearly as loud as the baby's crying.

"Right, hungry…" Oz wanted to set the baby down, he was SURE he wasn't holding it correctly. The baby felt really small, and breakable, in his arms. Oh god, how was he supposed to feed it? It? Was it a boy or a girl?! Oh god should Oz check?

The door to the room swung open with an ill greased squeak, and Gil stood highlighted in the dim light of the orphanage's hallway. "Oz?" Gil asked, his ears had to be ringing with the crying child's wails.

Finding a scapegoat (scape raven) Oz happily dumped the baby into Gil's hands. Gil barely managed not to fumble, and instead placed the baby on his shoulder, carefully supporting the baby's neck and cradling the baby's back with his hands. Why am I holding a baby?" Gilbert questioned, confused.

Oz began to explain that someone had just handed the baby to Alice, when he realize that the baby was not crying so loudly anymore. He watched in astonishment as Gil began to rock gently back and forth, and the baby quieted down to a few whimpers, it's little hands fisting in the cloak Gil had put on so they could walk around Sabrie.

"Can I eat now?" Alice asked, her stomach now far louder than the baby.
