Jun. 30th, 2009 08:29 pmWent to the museum today! With mom. She was supposed to go with Dad, but the storm broke last night and lasted through this morning and... Dad was not up to it.
So I said SURE... and then we separated around 30 minutes in. XD Not even. The downstairs exhibit was all about Sherman E. Lee and his choice pieces of Asian Art (a LOT of just absolutely GORGEOUS work) and unfortunately it was filled with school kids when we showed up. Loud, inappropriate school kids. So Mom headed upstairs so she could get a minute alone, and I kept going through the exhibit.
And the new wing was open! Which meant I got to go and bask in some Impressionism. By FAR my favorite period, although I do enjoy the romantics. XD I was asked this by some College kid, IDK, prolly for a class? He asked if I liked the peice of art I was looking at (a Realist peice) or if I prefered Picasso. And I was like 'oh god, I don't MIND Picasso, but Cubism's way too abstract for me. I don't like abstract art'.
I mean, sometimes a two pronged sculture leading up into one mass is a penis, and sometimes it's a severed torso. Who knows.
We have a srs lack of any Marie Casette though, but a LOT more Monet than I remember. And the Rodin! Aaaah. I like Rodin. We have a room filled with his scultptures now (though the Thinker still sits outside, Mom and I went to look at it after we wree like 'oh god SO MUCH MUSEUM') XD Or, I was like 'so much museum, needs air now'.
Very fun though, and I have to stop forgetting water bottles when I leave the house. DEAR ME, YOU GET THIRSTY AND DEHYDRATED AND MIGRAINEY. Remember to bring water!
