Tezuka struggled with himself. Part of him wished to shift closer to Fuji, to offer physical companionship and perhaps to place a half on Fuji's shoulder and squeeze. He wanted to, he did, but something held him back. Perhaps the fact that Fuji's smile had been dropped and he was hiding behind his towel. This was as bad as the aura Fuji had given off after losing to Shiraishi, and Fuji had own this time. There was no Kaidoh and Momoshirou to pull him out of his funk either.
"Fuji." Tezuka hadn't even realized he had opened his mouth. Fuji shook his head, his voice filtering out through the white towel.
"I'll be fine, Tezuka. Don't you have a match to play?"
Tezuka glanced over at Kaidoh, who was waiting for him. Kaidoh looked determined to win, and Tezuka knew he would play without regrets. "Ah."
Fuji peeked out from under the towel, his hair, and the gloom, a bit of daring sparking in his eyes. "Don't get careless."
Tezuka frowned at Fuji, who dropped the towel onto his shoulders and tipped his head back, his smile slowly curling his lips.
"I'd be disappointed if you got kicked out so soon, Tezuka."
"Hn." Tezuka shifted his grip on his racket and walked over to Kaidoh, the two of them heading onto the courts. He should have realized that teasing him would knock Fuji out of his gloom. Fuji was always happiest when teasing people.
