There is something to be said for being half-human. Despite the effort and pain that went into his conception and birth (medicine may have advanced to the point that the fact they are two separate species doesn't matter but it's still difficult) and the struggle Spock has faced growing up and finding himself, it proves often to be worth while. Spock does not need to wait for pon farr in order to find physical enjoyment in Uhura's company, and he enjoys the way Uhura makes him feel. He may suffer from occasional emotional lapses but his Vulcan and Human sides balance each other more frequently than not.
But, Vulcan logic negates the fun and enjoyment of 'teasing' someone. Especially someone like James T. Kirk, who looks confused and maybe a little surprised every time Spock drops a comment hinting that he may or may not have met with his older self. Comments that are logical… and at the same time carry a hint of something more. It takes Jim a full three months before he corners Spock in the turbolift and asks pointblank if he and 'the older you' had met.
"Would I keep anything like that from you, captain?"
