kat8cha“I like the tea.” Chinen stated, one hand wrapped carefully around one of Ryou’s teacups. Ryou had gotten to his apartment before he gave up on not acknowledging Chinen and had waved the tall man inside. Chinen, for his part, had gotten halfway to Ryou’s apartment before he had given up on hiding behind objects that were too small to hide him. It had taken until they were in Ryou’s apartment for the two of them to give up on testing each other’s mental defenses.
“It’s green… and something.” Ryou stared down into his own cup with a small frown. “Aoi gave it to me on my birthday.” Aoi generally gave thoughtful presents, but Ryou knew that was because he begged and pleaded with Ojii for advice before hand. Ryou wondered what Aoi would be getting any of them as gifts now that Ojii was gone. Setting the teacup down on a coaster Ryou stared up at the tall man sitting on his couch. Ryou was seated in a wooden rocking chair. The back of the rocking chair dug uncomfortably into Ryou’s shoulders if he leaned back.
“Was there a reason you were following me?” Ryou questioned.
Chinen set his tea cup down as well. He was sprawled over half of Ryou’s couch, his arms stretched out and his legs lying in front of him. “I assume you realize what group I am a part of.”
“Higa.” Ryou did not snarl. Snarling, Ryou had learned long ago, was distasteful. He might shout in anger but Ryou rarely snarled. Ryou left that to professional snarlers like Bane.
Chinen shrugged, ignoring the radiating psychic heat of anger and disgust. “I am.”
Ryou scowled. “Where are you holding Itsuki?” What Ryou really wanted was to strangle the asshole, wrap his hands around this man’s neck and squeeze. How dare this guy and his friends kill Ojii, how dare they kidnap Itsuki, how dare this guy sit in Ryou’s apartment and drink tea.
“I have a proposition.” Chinen smirked, though he knew that his smirks had a tendency to just look disturbing. The slight recoil the Rokkaku man exhibited amused Chinen. “If you want to take it.”
The sooner Ryou could get Chinen, and the ‘nothing there’ sensation he seemed to give off, out of Ryou’s apartment the happier Ryou would be. “It had better involve getting Itsuki back.”
“It might.” Chinen picked up the tea cup again and took a generous swallow. “It also involves getting back at Hyotei.”
