Apr. 6th, 2008 12:28 amKite did not bother to look up when Kai entered the room.
“Yes Kai? Was there something you wanted?” Kite flipped a page of his book. There was something nice about these old style books that Kite enjoyed, and he could only read them while planet side. For some reason paper did not survive well in outer space.
“So.” Kai flopped onto the seat next to Kite. “I’m back.”
Kite looked at Kai out of the corner of his eye. Kai shifted in his seat. “…” Folding down the corner of his book Kite set it aside and turned to give Kai the full power of his stare. “…”
Kai frowned and motioned towards the bed in the middle of the room. “I’m back, so why is he still here?” Itsuki was curled on the bed, deep asleep and only half covered by the blanket. Dried semen showed on the upper thigh you could glimpse before the blanket wound around his leg.
“Because I want him to be.” Kite assumed this would be a good enough answer. “Is that all?”
Kai’s face screwed up in frustration, an emotion easily confused with constipation, “Look, Tanishi’s sitting out in the main room attempting to block that guy’s friends from talking to Seigaku, Chinen’s out stalking some guy, you’re being secretive, and I think this whole thing BLOWS!” Kai exploded from his chair, shouting the last word. “What the hell is going on around here? Did you go soft or something?”
Smacking Kai would have been a foolish waste of time and energy, Kite instead fired a warning shot across Kai’s cheek, the bullet grazing Kai’s cheek and blowing a hole in his hair. Kai blinked, and swiped a hand across the thin line of blood.
“I am not soft.” On the bed Itsuki had sat up, startled by the gunshot. “Get out Kai.”
Kai got out.
Setting the gun down on the side table with his book Kite turned a level stare on Itsuki. “Do you have something to say?”
Itsuki turned his eyes from the gun back to Kite, his lips turned down in a decisive frown. “I’m a liability. The only reason you can keep me is because you can keep watch of me and there is nothing in this room I could use to escape. My friends are all looking for me and will alert everyone they know. On jobs I’d be a major liability, and if you’re planning to escape I would be even worse. I know too much about you and the team to be left alive.”
Kite knelt on the bed and cupped Itsuki’s cheek in his hand enjoying the warmth and the sight of Itsuki’s big brown eyes.
“Why are you keeping me?” Itsuki questioned.
Kite smirked. “Because I want to.”
