Minami never expected much from Valentine’s Day.

Well, Minami expected bitter depression, and a great deal of pink, and everyone from Dan to Akutsu dodging fangirls. Minami never expected chocolate, at least not chocolate that wasn’t accidentally placed in his locker. Generally when that happened Minami checked the card and made sure the chocolates found their proper recipient by the end of the day.
So when Minami went to change for tennis practice, first in the locker room so he could be first on the courts, Minami was unsurprised to find a box of chocolates waiting in his locker. Adventurous girls would sneak in to slip boxes into the tennis boy’s lockers, or shy ones if they hadn’t been able to get to the tennis players lockers or desks before school had started. Minami always kept the locker room unlocked on Valentine’s Day just so no one had to break in. Pulling the box out of the locker Minami checked the note.

And no one is sweeter than you
Minami couldn’t help it; resting the box against his forehead he gave a sad smile and fought back the urge to cry. It was a little depressing to know this time next year he would be getting his hopes up for nothing. But no matter how hard he tried Minami knew he would always be hoping for another small heart shaped box.
