Yagyuu was playing against Kirihara when Yanagi approached him.
“Yagyuu. A moment.” Yanagi spares a nod for Kirihara, who skitters off back to the other first years. Kirihara has not yet gotten over his awe of the three demons, though he is less likely to run off around Yanagi than around Sanada and Yukimura.
“Yanagi.” Yanagi’s gotten a hair cut recently, and the short trim suits Yanagi’s sharpening face. “What did you want to talk about?”
Yanagi treats Yagyuu the same way he would treat Sanada, speaking to Yagyuu with half of his attention focused on the rest of the team. It irritates Yagyuu, who keeps all of his attention on whom ever he is conducting a conversation with, and pleases him, knowing that Yanagi considers him an equal.
“We’ll need another player to round out the team this year.” Yanagi stated baldly.
Yagyuu blinked; glad his eyes were hidden behind his glasses. “I was unaware of that.” The regulars were full, all of them but two handpicked and groomed by Yukimura. The two third years would likely be replaced soon anyway, one by Jackal, who had transferred to Rikkai a few months ago, and one by Kirihara.
“Akaya is not ready for a regulars position.” Yanagi motioned to Kirihara fighting with another third year. “He is not good at cooperating.”
“Ah.” Yagyuu nodded. All of the regulars were required to be able to fill both a singles, and a doubles position. With the three demons able to take either as well, one had to be versatile. “And you’re speaking to me about this why?”
“I have someone in mind.”
