kat8chaKain had been in love for as long as he could remember.
The first time he met Ryou, Kain had been in love. Ryou was different back then, a lot less angry at the world, and he smiled so much. Ryou had been in love then too, but not with Kain. No Ryou had been in love with a man Kain knew would never be able to provide for Ryou, Kain knew they were unstable, that they were someone who would ultimately bring Ryou down.
So Kain had pushed him. Not literally, Kain had been with Ryou at the time the other's lover had jumped, he'd held Ryou in his arms while Ryou sobbed hysterically and attempted to move towards the mangled body. Ryou had clung to him after that angry at the world, at his dead lover, at everyone but Kain who was always there for him.
Then Tsubasa happened.
Tsubasa had ruined it all. He had so cruelly destroyed the world Kain had built for Ryou, ripping apart the illusion that Kain was who Ryou needed. Ryou was in love again, and it wasn't with Kain.
There is no remedy for love but to love more. Kain just needed to love Ryou more then Tsubasa, to seduce Tsubasa so he never turned to Ryou, to make Tsubasa hate Ryou, to…
But there was no way to fix it at that point. Tsubasa and Ryou had been in love from the time their paths crossed. Both were broken souls, broken wings, and together they thought they could help each other heal. Kain couldn't have that, he couldn't let Tsubasa take away the one thing he had ever wanted. So Kain had tried to break their bond, to break them.
Kain wiped the tears from his face as he stared down at the shattered sculpture. He couldn't break their bond, but by now one of them was broken at least. One out of two wasn't bad.
