Sanada wasn’t eating the valentine’s chocolate Yukimura had slaved away over.

In fact he had not even opened the box to look at the chocolate. Sanada had taken the box, which Yukimura had waited until the rest of the team had left to give him, thanked him, and then gone back to packing it up.

 

“Aren’t you going to try one?” Yukimura didn’t mean to sound testy, but he had worked so hard on those chocolates and Sanada didn’t even appear grateful! It wasn’t like Yukimura was girl. If Sanada didn’t return his affection the other could say so, and even then Yukimura hadn’t given him the chocolate because of a crush but because they were friends.

 

“…ah.” Sanada stopped gathering his school things to open the box and pick out a small chocolate. Popping it into his mouth Sanada chewed and swallowed slowly. “They’re very good.”

 

Yukimura’s fingers curled. Sanada didn’t look like he’d enjoyed the chocolates, instead he looked like he was about to be sick. Slapping Sanada Yukimura glared. “Go break into a rash Sanada Genichirou!” It was beneath Yukimura to use stronger words, curse words left such a nasty taste in one’s mouth. Stormin out of the clubroom he shouted over his shoulder, “And forty laps for lying to your captain!”

 

The next day Sanada wasn’t at morning practice, but Yukimura could care less. Practice went on as always, though it was commented on that they seemed to be running two times more punishment laps then usual. Yukimura had ordered the idle chatters twenty punishment laps. Sanada did not show up for homeroom either, or any of their classes. When afternoon practice ended Yukimura gave Yanagi a look that clearly said ‘I want to know what is up, and I want to know now.’

 

“Did you know Genichirou’s lactose intolerant?” Yanagi’s voice was bland as he buttoned up his shirt. “It’s why he never accepts chocolate from anyone. I guess he must have broken that rule for someone yesterday. He broke into a horrible rash yesterday, and has been quite ill.”
