Aiba and Nagayan have WAY too many scenes together for my inner fangirl to safely handle without squeeing.
Aiba, you're so cute, and I can't help but love you, but somehow I can't take you seriously. You try though. >> I don't think Nagayan could take you seriously either. Like the only time the audience laughs is b/c of Nagayan and Aiba.
I loved how they did it with such a simplistic set. Since I've been a poor actor and such I know about simplistic. Doing a scene with only 4 chairs? It's hard. They had lighting and sounds though. They were also offset by doing a play with a ROUND STAGE. Fuck, I've done shows with an audience on 3 sides, and shows with an audience on just the one and I STILL have trouble. lol, I ALWAYS forget where the audience is. Working with a round stage is difficult, because the audience is on all sides. You have to project your voice so everyone heres you, you're ALWAYS on.
The lighting was really well done. I liked how Nagayan was shadowed unless he was with the test subjects. And then that one scene where everything went red.... Well done. The costuming was also well done, while the test subjects weren't anything special, very normal in fact, Nagayan was dressed in a dark suit that I found especially fitting.
B/c I don't understand Japanese a lot of the character development fell flat. Still there's a lot that can be shown through facial expressions, body language, vocals.... it was impressive. I honestly felt for most of the characters.
