Amazing was the common consensus, as was brilliant. A bloodthirsty monster was a phrase used to describe Okita, though never by anyone in the Shishengumi. Hijikata never tried to describe Okita, and would refuse to when others asked him. To Hijikata Okita was Okita, and that was all anyone needed to know.
