Damn my little sister for being a one woman Twilight novel.

So. Andrew stops by right? One minute I look out the front door and she's on the phone, the next I look out and she's standing on the curb (sans socks and shoes) leaning into his car). So I'm like 'okay, maybe he'll come in'.

He doesn't.

He's still there the next time I look outside.

Mom comes home. I talk to mom, she has to go pick up the vacuum from the repair shop. She's planning on picking up dinner.

Me: Juliet what do you- ~looks outside, yup, still by the curb~ N/m.

Mom goes to leave, asks where Juliet is. I say 'outside with Andrew last time I checked'.

Okay, so maybe I shouldn't have been pissed off about her standing on the curb, or standing in the STREET with his door open, tickling or attacking him or whatever. (...) But srsly, he wasn't there for just 10 minutes. He wasn't there for 30. He was there for over an hour. He could have sat on the porch (either porch) or come inside. Granted, I give him the cold shoulder.

Yes, I know I should open up to this guy, but I don't like him. And I don't pretend to like people when I don't like them. I'm very honest.

So mom comes home and makes some chicken dinner (which wasn't great and didn't look great, but still) which Juliet cuts into little pieces and picks at. Which, of course, would irritate anyone. Anyone. I'm sorry, but it's just rude.

So Mom starts in on Juliet about her manners.

Of which, note, my little sister started throwing away almost as soon as she started learning them. If we hadn't stressed language she would still be calling ketchup 'the red thing'. So mom starts in on her, and no, she wasn't nice about it, but she wasn't ripping into Juliet like she *can*. My mom can be really, really fracking mean. So she starts into Juliet, and Juliet's sitting there and doing what we all do (yes, mom) and then she starts to make excuses for Andrew.

'He needed to get to class'

Which of course, mom calls BS on.

So Juliet sits there and sulks through dinner (and I do my best as the Peacemaker of the family) but she doesn't excuse herself when she leaves the table, she doesn't thank mom for making dinner, she doesn't in any way try to pacify my mother. (Yes, my short-fused mother occasionally needs a little gentle handling.) So, yeah, Mom's upset.

So I go upstairs after I've done the dishes to try to soften my Mom's blow. Juliet's curled up on her bed with her phone next to her. Presumably she's been texting Andrew.

Anyway, I'm like 'yeah, mom wasn't nice about it, but really he was here over an hour'

'No he wasn't'

'Yes, he was.'

So, she starts in on how he doesn't feel welcomed, and how he doesn't think anyone likes him.

Maybe I should have lied. Maybe I should say 'we just haven't gotten to know him!' instead of 'no, none of us like him, kthxsorry, but we're not going to like him more if he's a pussy'.

...almost my exact words. Anyway. He's the ONLY THING that makes her happy. I tell her to get more friends. She doesn't WANT more friends. ALL SHE NEEDS IS HIM. I tell her if that's how she feels then he's *totally wrong for her*.

Sorry. I understand existing with someone under adversity, that if you're all you've got, then that's what you survive on... but that's not all Juliet has. That's not all she SHOULD have.

ARGH.

And she fell asleep over at his house last night, not calling home until like 6 AM today. So yeah. Parents were stressed and worried.
