Kite lazily fanned herself, her toes digging into the wet sand of the beach. Kai and Hirakoba were playing in the surf, splashing each other and showing off the for the boys playing volleyball. Kite could care less about the boys, almost all of them had attended the same dojo as the Higa Chuu girls, and Kite had beat up each of them at some point or another. Boys considered Kite ‘frigid’. Sighing slightly Kite glanced over at Chinen, who was lying on her extra large beach blanket, unsuccessfully attempting to get a darker tan. “It’ll never work, Chinen-kun. You’re doomed to stay a pale tan.”
Chinen turned her head to the side, glancing up at Kite. Kite could never figure out why Chinen thought heavy kohl lined eyes were fashionable, but some girls could pull that look off. Chinen was cursed with a body and face that only ever looked fashionable when dressed like a goth.
“Even so,” Chinen rolled onto her back, “the sun feels good, right, Eiko?”
“…mmm.” Eiko planted her hands on the sand behind her and leaned back. A wave rolled up the beach, barely splashing her toes. “The sun does feel good.”
