(no subject)

So, I was talking to ai_ling and hamburgerjack today about how the fandom's so tense and all lately, and Ai said that what we needed was a rallying pout.

I've been wondering about this for a while, sort of idle musing, but why doesn't PoT have an annual contest? I mean, all the other big fandoms have it, PoT's pretty decently sized... Star Gate and Buffy have these contests (which was how I got the idea, ages ago) but those are MATURE fandoms right? Well Harry Potter's got like... three dozen or something.

Of course, this would need to be strictly monitored and controlled, and I guess we'd need a couple of BNF's, or at least recognizable names up there advocating it. The trouble with these contests is, your own fic can't be judged. XD

I know we've go that annual national contest thing, but I'm talking about submitting a fic, and later having people vote on them. Meh, it's almost 3 I probably don't make much sense.

Still, it could either be fun, or a wankfest. Or both!
