Byakuran wasn't dead.

Although, that statement was not strictly true.

It was a complicated situation involving more intelligence and knowledge than even Verde of the Arcobaleno possessed. Byakuran himself only understood it because he believed life to be a game, a system of events he needed to complete and flags he needed to score. So the knowledge of his past, present, future, and parallel selves was simply one more thing to add into it all.

Although, Byakuran did not have all that knowledge. The memories of his future self were hazy and faint, communicated to him through means he did not understand and fogged by every action the Vongola made that took them further and further away from that universe. Byakuran's knowledge of his parallel selves was also hazy, filtered through Uni's sacrifice.

But Byakuran had enough.

He had enough.

"Byakuran-san?" Shouichi rolled over, curling around Byakuran's body. Byakuran ran his fingers through Shouichi's disheveled red hair. The bed was a full, barely big enough for two nearly full-grown adult males. The bedroom was small, and a streetlamp outside their bedroom window shone through the blinds. "You shouldn't still be awake." Shouichi yawned, his jaw moving against Byakuran's hip and his breath ghosting over his stomach. "We have class tomorrow."

"Fuu, Shou-chan shouldn't worry." Byakuran slipped down onto the bed and cradled Shouichi's head in his hands. "I always ace my classes."

Shouichi's eyes hovered at half-master before they closed. "Byakuran-san should… mmm… Still sleep."

Byakuran let his arms slip down to wrap around Shouichi's shoulders and tug him close. "I will. In a minute."

His memories of the future and the past and the present were faint. But Byakuran had enough.

Feeling Shouichi's heartbeat echo his, and the warmth of Shouichi's breath against his neck, Byakuran nodded slightly.

He had enough.
