Ryou was ready to cut his hair off and move in with Atsushi
. “What do you mean Itsuki’s still missing?” Reminding himself that Oshitari would probably be able to tell if Ryou meant bodily harm, and that there were two rather bulky and stupid looking guys standing right outside the room, Ryou still had to sit on his fingers to keep from leaping at Oshitari. “He got kidnapped by the guys Kai works with, right? Isn’t that an obvious tip off that they were the ones behind Ojii’s death?”

Oshitari calmly placed his tea cup on the table between them. Ryou wondered what it was about Hyotei guys and drinking tea, he swore he had seen at least five guys from Hyotei drinking it on his way in. Maybe they needed the caffeine and coffee made them too jittery. It was probably because Hyotei wanted to appear distinguished though. Ryou knew that a lot of Hyotei’s ‘power’ came from appearances. That and attacking guys who were half asleep and easily swayed. “And what was up with you practically drugging us?”

Oshitari chuckled. “We did not drug you. Obviously if you were tired enough to be drawn in by our tactics you were too tired to work on the Kai case.”

Ryou ground his teeth, stroking a lock of hair in an attempt to calm down. “You did not just take us off the case you did it in a dirty underhanded manner.”

“Officially, you were only on the case because Hyotei allowed it. The case itself was under the scrutiny of several governments, along with multiple government agencies within each government. They worked faster then you did.” Oshitari’s smirk widened. “Rokkaku is obviously out dated.”

Ryou did launch himself across the table at Oshitari, only to be caught around the waist and pulled back by one of the burly guards. Ryou had not even noticed the bastards stepping into the room. Attempting to use his power against the stone faced strong man Ryou found himself faced with a brick wall.

“Hyotei employs a certain type of man for these positions.” Oshitari motioned for security to drag Ryou out. “Stupid.”

Ryou began cursing, but did not bother to struggle as he was practically carried outside of Hyotei’s headquarters. Stalking away Ryou waited until he was a sufficient distance away before contacting Saeki. “Oshitari was a no go. Did you get any news about Itsuki?”

Saeki groaned. “I contacted personnel and they gave me the run around. Eventually I got to Atobe Keigo… and he told me we would be getting Itsuki back when they were sure he had not been messed with.”

Ryou raised an eyebrow. “Messed with?” From what Ryou knew that was too simplistic sounding to come from Atobe Keigo. “You’re paraphrasing.”

“He said; ‘as soon as our experts have checked out your Itsuki thoroughly to be sure his mind has not been tampered with in anyway.’.” Saeki gave a tired chuckle. “I’m guessing they don’t have him or they would not be so free with saying we would get him back.”

Ryou flipped his hair behind one shoulder and checked himself out in a nearby mirrored window. Around fifty feet back Ryou took note of someone ducking behind a nearby tree. “They also would not be following me.” Ryou frowned, he was picking up the standard fuzz of thoughts from those around him, but that guy seemed to be protected. Ryou felt like his mental probe was being deflected, like water rolling off an oiled surface. “I’m not sure if this guy is Hyotei.”

Saeki cursed. “Don’t meet up with him Ryou. I don’t care what you think, get back to Bane’s apartment or I’ll send him after you.”

“Yuh huh.” Ryou closed down his communicator and set it on silent. He was intrigued by this mental defense. It reminded him of Kai’s ability to change his thoughts around so fluidly.
