When Shouichi says something like 'Choice is the one thing Byakuran-san would never cheat at' he's not being overly innocent. He's telling the truth, so far as he knows it. Byakuran wouldn't cheat at Choice, because Byakuran doesn't need to. The two had, as teenagers, concocted a game just for them. A game that, Shouichi had always believed, was never meant to be a reality. The game was so impossible that there should be no way for it to be real. The fields themselves were extensive, and highly detailed. In no way shape or form should Byakuran have been able to create real playing fields for the game.
