Itsuki watched as Bane's leg twitched and his hands curled into fists.
Itsuki was glad that the people coming into the café were mainly ordering coffee to go, because otherwise they might start wondering about Bane's actions. Watching Bane's phone conversations with Davide were always entertaining. Bane's eyebrows would twitch, and his nose would scrunch up, and his hands would turn into fists. Inevitably he started tapping his foot against the floor in irritation. Itsuki would step in when Bane's face turned red and he started spluttering, but only then. Up until that point Bane wasn't generally in danger of a heart attack after all.
"Not funny Davide." Bane snapped irritably. Itsuki gave a small chuckle, and blushed a bit when Bane flashed him a smile. Bane seemed to like smiling at him lately. Well, when Bane wasn't smiling at other people. Bane smiled at other people a lot too. Feeling a frown start to appear Itsuki opened his notebook and turned away. He shouldn't let Bane's flirting bother him. Bane had been a flirt longer then Itsuki had known him.
"I'm calling because Itsuki says he left something over there last night." Itsuki felt the couch dip as Bane sat down beside him. Focusing on his notebook Itsuki fished around for his bag so he could pull out a pen before remembering that that his bag was the reason Bane was calling Davide. Seconds after Itsuki flailed around though he found a pen being pressed into his hands.
"Yes, I'm calling about his bag." Bane's hand clenched around the pen, and around Itsuki's hand as well. Itsuki glanced up at Bane in concern, the other was steadily moving towards looking murderous. Reaching over with his free hand Itsuki tugged the cellphone away from Bane's ear.
"Davide, my homework is in my bag, if you could bring it to your first class I could come pick it up after that."
"I'll bring it to you, Ittchan." Itsuki blinked, confused for a minute before he realized it was Saeki speaking.
"…Thank you Sae-san." Itsuki murmured. "I'm giving Bane-san his phone back." Pressing the phone back into Bane's hands Itsuki focused on his notebook. Itsuki knew that it was stupid to take Bane's slight stiffening for protectiveness, or jealousy.
"Yeah, yeah, that's his classroom… no, I've got classes at the dojo to teach I'm not going to be there. I'll see you later Saeki." Flipping his phone closed Bane tucked it into his shirt pocket. Itsuki watched the other's jerky movements from the corner of his eye. Bane seemed slightly upset, which was odd, Saeki had never upset Bane before.
"I have to get to the dojo." Bane stood, picking up the coffee cup he had set aside when he started talking on the phone. "I can't make it here tomorrow morning, but there's that party tomorrow night…"
Itsuki nodded. Their morning meet ups for coffee weren't official meetings and because of their busy schedules Bane and Itsuki could only meet up once or twice in the mornings. The parties were a weekly occurrence though. Itsuki's roommate was always dragging him to some party and ditching him, Bane had become Itsuki's unofficial rescuer.
Everything about their interactions seemed to be unofficial.
"Ichiro is planning on going." Itsuki bit back a sigh when Bane flashed a smile at a girl passing by. Itsuki didn't need to listen hard to hear the girl giggle, or to hear the sound of her hurried high heeled steps crossing the wooden floor.
"I'll see you then." Itsuki didn't look up; he already knew that Bane's eyes were following the girl out of the coffee house. Seconds later Bane's feet were also heading in the direction of the door.
