It’s been a while since when Sinestro showed up he was there for Hal. Kyle almost misses those days. Actually, he does miss those days, especially when his arm’s been shredded by exploding rock and his lungs are heavy with dust. He’s on an alien planet, Munin or something, some dark and dreary place that was watched over by two new lanterns. It was a sleepy sector, Kyle’s trip should have been a snoozefest. Depressing, but also relaxing.
Instead Kyle showed up on Munin just in time to be passed by two glowing green rings and to use up his ring’s power on attempting to contain the fire spreading through the city’s streets.
“Get off me, Sinestro.” Kyle shoves the skinny bastard away, but yellow constructs slam Kyle back down onto the rubble, a sharp edge of what used to be a roof digging into his spine.
“You’re still not afraid, Alley Rat.” And Sinestro’s constructs turn into twining snakes, tentacles that wrap and constrict around Kyle’s body. Kyle’s arm screams with pain, but Kyle just grunts. “These people will die because of you.”
“They’re dying because you’re a sick bastard.” Kyle grunts, and yellow energy invades his open mouth, stretches and pulls and tastes like salt and vinegar on his tongue. “Nnnf!” Green energy sputters from his drained ring.
Kyle is pulled upward by Sinestro, up and up and up into the atmosphere till he feels dizzy flying under someone else’s power. The fire continues to spread below.
“What you feel now is pain,” Kyle chews on Sinestro’s construct, struggles against the constricting snakes that make it hard to breath. “But you shall feel fear.”
Kyle can’t talk with his mouth full, but he’s sure Sinestro can read it in his eyes. Not of you.
