The truth was, Decade was the thief. Diend stole items, treasures, sure, but in the end they could be replaced. Tsukasa stole people, stole lives, stole *worlds*. The first time Kaito met Decade was in his world. He was dressed in his uniform still, sitting in a field. No one was bothering him. Almost everyone he knew was brainwashed, servants of Fourteen. And Kaito had been the one to make it that way. Now even his brother was brainwashed.
God. It was all his fault.
"Hey." A foot knocked against his, and Kaito jolted. No one would bother him, and no one would be so rude as to address him like that. Kaito looked up. The light was of course slanted just right, the sun shining behind Tsukasa's head. "What's up with you?"
"…" Kaito blinked. "Enjoying the sun."
Tsukasa flopped down on the seat next to him. "Sounds fun." Tsukasa then held out his hand. "Kadoya Tsukasa."
"Daiki Kaitou." Daiki shook Tsukasa's hand, and the two of them turned to look up at the sky. There were no clouds to watch, just the sun and a stretch of pale blue. The soft sounds of the wind through the grass, and the cicadas. Kaito looked over at Tsukasa. "Who are you?"
"I told you, Kadoya Tsukasa." Tsukasa shrugged carelessly. "I dislike sea cucumbers, my favorite colors are pink and black, and my blood type is B."
Kaito frowned. "But what are you?"
Tsukasa shrugged again and stood up. "Leaving, do you want to come with me?" Tsukasa leaned down and offered his hand to Kaito.
"Come where?" Kaito could not imagine there was anywhere in his world where he could start life again. Fourteen controlled it all, and the guilt would follow Kaito everywhere.
"Another world."
Kaito considered it, before he took Tsukasa's hand. It was the end of his life as simply Kaito, and the start of his life as Diend.
God. It was all his fault.
