You don't have to sit here and use Jay and Charles as an analogy for ourselves' is what Sam thinks, but will never say. Erik refuses to recognize that there is a 'Sam and Erik' out there, an 'us' instead of 'them' or 'you'. Despite the fact that Erik is the one who initiates the kisses, it is Sam who invites Erik over to spend time together. Erik asks Sam to take part in group activities, stage crew, book club, going out to pizza with everyone. Sam goes along with pizza, and parties, but stage crew? Book club? Puh-leaze.

"Y'know, people aren't math equations."

Sam was pretty sure Erik saw everyone as math variables, X's and Y's and not in the fun chromosomal way. Erik was always weird about that stuff, not cool like that one time Odette had gotten into numerology. The wii remote is pointing uselessly at the screen now, and Erik's gone to wherever Erik goes when he's feeling guilt eat up at his insides. Sam's betting it has something to do with that one time he caught Erik stealing test answers from the teacher.

"But if that's the case, then maybe he's been looking at the problem the wrong way."

Like sometimes Erik should just shut up and go with it, kiss him and keep kissing him instead of thinking about it. Sam was pretty sure he'd be able to stay awake for sex. Maybe.

"Want Coffee?"
